We took the Autozug from Berlin to Verona and then travelled by car to Rome.
Our apartment was very central and it didn't take long for us to confirm that the most remarkable thing about Rome is its imperial past and its ancient ruins. They are everywhere. So much so that after a while you tend to ignore them - much as present day Romans seem to do.
We saw Rome at its very best – blue skies, neither too hot nor too cold and enough people around to give it the right atmosphere. The number and variety of restaurants and cafés is astounding. In fact in many ways Rome seems to be the ideal tourist city – una empachada de cultura por el dia y una empachada de comer por la noche!
